The LEVY team is proud to announce that LEVY President, Stephen V. Levy, has been selected to serve as a board member on the newly created Austin Economic Development Corporation. The 21-member board includes industry leaders from across all areas where the corporation will focus and work with local government to address projects that advance the mission of the City of Austin, from real estate development to addressing affordable housing, cultural trust and related efforts.

The Austin Business Journal stated, "the corporation could help the city with development, acquisition, ownership and operation of community development projects and affordable housing projects; promotion of employment and economic development; and promotion and maintenance of both for-profit and nonprofit creative and cultural venues."

We look forward to the positive impact the Austin Economic Development Corporation will have on our community for years to come.

Cork and Barrel

The new Cork & Barrel Irish pub and microbrewery is bringing a piece of Ireland to Round Rock, Texas. Traditional Irish building methods profoundly influenced the design of the project. A variant of the "double-pile" house, the project splits into two uniform gable buildings that run parallel. The symmetrical forms share an appropriate roof pitch of 45 degrees, which provides a visual balance between wall and roof and defines traditional Irish building methods. Shifting the two structures along their parallel axis creates a visible entry and reveals a transparent passage through the interior to the preserved woodlands.

The Cork & Barrel project was led by team members Ryan Begley and Mauricio Feldsberg. Ryan was involved in the project as the Principal Lead Designer, and a Brand Consultant for Cork & Barrel, working alongside their creative team to ensure the architectural design was cohesive with the overall brand. Mauricio served as the Project Architect and Interior Designer on the project.

In addition to their roles, Ryan and Mauricio represented LEVY in the Cork & Barrel “Dirty Boots” tour which introduced the facility to the community while it was still under construction and helped build connections and excitement for the pub and microbrewery. Ryan and Mauricio’s hard work and passion for the project guaranteed a great success with the Cork & Barrel project.

Community Connections

An integral part of the Texas Contemporary experience is our connection to the community. Our firm plays an active role in where we work, live and play. Every team member is required to dedicate a minimum of 2.5% of their time to community services.

Congratulations to LEVY Principal, Jill Pierce, and her son Evan Lung, for their acceptance into the Hills of Westlake Chapter of Young Men’s Service League (YMSL). The non-profit organization provides moms and their teenage sons an opportunity to volunteer to serve their community together throughout their four years of high school and helps to grow their relationship and instill a heart of service to last a lifetime.

Through the organization, Jill and Evan will be giving back to a number of local philanthropies across Austin that help underserved populations including seniors, homeless, and families in need. We look forward to all of the great work Jill and Evan will be doing in our community in the years to come.

Driven by the Spirit and Culture of Texas Contemporary

A message from our President, Stephen V. Levy

When someone asks me to describe the LEVY design and architecture approach, what comes to mind is a unifying spirit and culture we share internally among our talented team and through the collaborative interface we enjoy with our clients on diverse assignments.

It can be described as a spirit of inspiration that is founded on two guiding principles. One is the discipline of sound design and architecture best practices, and two is the freedom of exploring innovative, creative design that evokes a compatible energy with the distinctive culture of our client's brand personality.

When our team immerses itself with these aspirational sensibilities, the LEVY Texas Contemporary spirit comes alive, producing the kind of work our clients embrace and that we can be proud of. That's the spirit of LEVY Texas Contemporary.

And just like the famous tagline, "Don't Mess with Texas" has evolved from an anti-litter campaign into a meaning of Texas pride and bravado that can be seen on everything from t-shirts to coffee mugs, the meaning of LEVY Texas Contemporary is a spirit that goes way beyond a design style or geography.

We look forward to sharing the spirit with you.
