Art Museum's annual gala was a smashing success

For the crowd gathered in gorgeous gowns and suits and tuxedos Nov. 10 at the Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz International Center, the Art Museum of South Texas’ annual gala was a smashing success.
With beautiful and intriguing artwork for sale in the auctions as well as a lively live auction of everything from fabulous trips to Hawaii and Costa Rica to fishing charters, the celebration of all things art in Corpus Christi was a fun evening. My favorite part of the live auction was predicting who would take home the Dorothy Hood painting. It was a fun contest between Amy Liles and Maureen Miller, but eventually the grande dame of Corpus Christi won out and Maureen was the lucky lady who went home with the beautiful piece to add to her collection.
Many congratulations to the committee for putting the event together, including chairs Amy Liles and Daryl and George Tanner as well as Becky Brackett, Deborah Greer, Lynda Jones, Kim Hammer, Amanda Kellar, Ken Kellar, and Todd Walter. The highlight of the evening’s entertainment was a rollicking live performance by the Indigo Girls. I personally enjoyed it, having seen them live at Jazz Fest in New Orleans back in 1993 and thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was fun to relive the experience right here in Corpus Christi. I wasn’t the only one having a great time; I spied Amy Liles and Jordan Anderson front and center enjoying the performance!
It was a memorable evening for all of the guests present, and it was exciting to see that our community is enthusiastic in support of its vibrant art scene. Major sponsors for the evening included Amanda and Ken Kellar; Liles, Harris, White Trail Attorneys; Daryl and George Tanner; Carol Ballard; the Louis I. Borick Foundation; Julie Buckley; Louise Chapman; Samantha and Dos Gates; the Prichard Family Foundation; Toby Shor; Kimberly and Steven Stockseth; Celika Storm; Karen and Larry Urban; Todd Walter and CA Cintron; CITGO; American Bank; Bay Area Title Services; the Corpus Christi Caller Times; 1st Community Bank; Flint Hills Resources; Dykema Architects, Inc.; H-E-B; the Congressman Solomon P.
