Austin/Corpus Christi — Two architectural firms–one based in Austin and the other in Corpus Christi–have expanded by joining forces and moving into new quarters.

Corpus Christi is more than just a busy tourist site; it houses the country’s fifth largest port, has a large oil and agricultural product industry, and is a booming employer providing 6,200 jobs at its Naval Air Station Corpus Christi. The busy city also houses the Corpus Christi Army Depot, the largest helicopter repair facility in the world.

Texas Contemporary with Deep Roots

Walking into and experiencing any commercial space as a customer, employee, resident or casual visitor, we are all struck with a certain ambiance and relationship with our surroundings.

Groundbreaking was held on June 22 for the highly anticipated EastVillage, a master-planned mixed-use urban center spanning more than 400 acres. Located in the heart of Austin's northeast tech corridor the development will feature a unique combination of urban living, retail, modern workplaces, hospitality, dining, entertainment, wellness, and recreation creating a live-work-play-stay experience.

LEVY is proud of our strong partnership with KPG Commercial, an Austin-based real estate development firm. Together, our teams are currently collaborating on many exciting projects, including The Grove Medtail and Goodnight Ranch (both pictured above), to name a few.

The 1.77-acre site is located at 27225 Haynie Flat Road, Spicewood, and will feature two 2,500-square-foot restaurants and several retail spaces to be determined.

A new Irish pub and microbrewery opened in Round Rock this week. Cork & Barrel is found at 4000 East Palm Valley Boulevard as of March 17. Currently, it is only open for dine-in service, but will add curbside pickups starting on Friday, March 19.

Also during the Dec. 8 meeting, the council asked City Manager Stan Farmer and city staff to examine future facility needs as Horseshoe Bay continues to grow. Farmer said representatives with R. Gill & Associates of Horseshoe Bay and LEVY Architects of Austin will begin meeting with staff and pertinent department heads to get the ball rolling.

As we slide into month five of the pandemic, it’s easy to feel like time no longer exists — especially if you’re working from home and keeping your adequate social distance. Amid a continuing tight labor market, the corporate campus at 3100 Alvin Devane Blvd. recently sold after a hold period of seven years which included extensive upgrades.

Seafood-focused Round Rock restaurant Salt Traders Coastal Cooking announced the opening of a second location in South Austin’s Barton Oaks Plaza. “We’ve had so much fun over the last two years in Round Rock, and we’re fortunate to now open a second Salt Traders south of the river,” says Salt Traders Chef Jack Gilmore.
