LEVY DYKEMA Wins Austin Business Journal's
Best Retail Development for Cork & Barrel

It's one thing to be inspired in designing one of Austin's favorite spots, Cork & Barrel. But then to receive the coveted Best Retail Development Award in this highly competitive market...well, let's just say it's an "inspiration double whammy."

Members of the LEVY DYKEMA team, along with our esteemed Cork & Barrel client were present to receive this award at the annual Austin Business Journal 2022 Commercial Real Estate Awards on May 12, 2022.

Cork & Barrel is an authentic Irish pub experience with a unique Texas flair. Our team utilized traditional Irish building methods to influence the design. The design team conducted a deep study of traditional Irish home designs, material vernacular, forms, proportions, vicissitudes in time, and lifestyles to influence the contemporary response to this project. The attention to detail utilized throughout the project is what gives Cork & Barrel the unique authentic experience patrons enjoy. As a place where Irish Flair meets Texas Contemporary™, this lively Irish pub with a Texan twist has made its mark on the Round Rock community and beyond.

Community service is one of the best ways to enrich your community and it not only has a positive impact, but it teaches us all a sense of purpose by serving those around us and improving the world we live in.

Most recently, Erica Yañez joined the 1st Sunday Trash Clean-Up project at McKinney Falls State Park. This was the second time for Erica to join this meaningful project to help clean the parks. She witnessed firsthand while on her hikes the accumulated trash in this park and other Austin parks and felt the need to give back to her community.

Erica is fully aware of the significance of giving back and donating her time as a volunteer in the community. She has volunteered numerous times delivering meals to homebound seniors and adults with Meals on Wheels, a meal program promoting health and improving the quality of life for our vulnerable seniors. “It’s important to show them that they are cared for and it’s my way of showing them that they are appreciated.” Erica shares.

Community Connections

This summer is going to be a busy one for the LEVY DYKEMA team. From volunteering with the Food Bank to coordinating efforts with Habitat for Humanity, our team knows how important it is to give back to the community. Next month, in our Community Issue, we’ll share details of these projects and more.

Where does inspiration come from?

A message from our President, Stephen V. Levy

In the world of architecture, design and interiors, we all seek inspiration to achieve fresh and relevant signature work. But where does inspiration come from? My curiosity peaked when I began to think about what inspired the work of Cork & Barrel which has just received the coveted Best Retail Project Award from the Austin Business Journal.

And then the aha moment! Of course, it was the Irish culture. So what else inspires us? The list is long. Shapes, colors, fabrics, the environment, music, historic structures, fashion, movies, emotions, nature, and so on. Inspiration is everywhere. Seize the opportunity when inspiration hits. Connect the dots in new and different ways. It is inspiration that produces the LEVY DYKEMA work that wins more than awards. It wins the hearts and minds of those who enjoy places and spaces we create.
